 Red Cross Honors HS Track and Girls' Basketball for Haiti Relief Efforts

The Westchester Chapter of the American Red Cross will be honoring the Scarsdale HIgh School Track and Girl's Basketball teams for their Haiti fundraising efforts, which grossed more than $20,000.

 

The response proceeding one of the most ruinous disasters in Haitian history, the earthquake on January 12, was swift and immense.  Students from Scarsdale High School's Track and J.V. Girl's Basketball Team quickly banded together to organize two events:  Laps and Hoops for Haiti.

The events collectively raised over $20,000 inrelief funds for Haitian earthquake victims.

One of the events, Laps for Haiti, recruited 70 people to run for the cause, which was supported by over 800 patrons. 

On Thursday, June 17, the Scarsdale Track and Girl's Basketball Team will be honored by theAmerican Red Cross of Westchester with the Youth Good Samaritan Award at "A Community of Heroes" breakfast.  The event will be held at the Hilton Rye Town in Rye Brook, New York from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.
